Getting around Denver is easy to do with the right Denver transportation. There are even special transportation services that can transport people from the Denver airport to Denver downtown hotels. Many business travelers have found it much more convenient to travel with a Denver shuttle service, rather than going through the hassle of renting a car. Not to mention it can save the trouble of trying to drive in snowy weather.
When traveling through Denver, there are several things that someone should keep in mind to help them get through the busy streets of downtown Denver. An important thing to take note of, is that most Denver streets are one way streets. For some new drivers, it can get frustrating not knowing which streets to turn on to get to the desired destination. The Denver taxis, and other Denver shuttles, however, typically know the ins and outs of the Denver streets to get anyone where they need to go in a timely manner. Otherwise, anyone in their own Denver cars might have to go down or up another block until headed in the direction needed in order to get to the desired destination. Once people get the hang of it, it isn't that bad.
Most of the activity in downtown Denver is on 16th Street at the Mall or on Larimer Square. There is plenty to do to keep anyone busy for hours. And it is not more than a short Denver taxi ride away from most hotels. The block has gift shops, tourist shops, a mini-mall with Victoria's Secret, PAC-SUN, Bare Minerals and larger shops like Virgin Megastore, TJ Maxx and Nike and a United Artists movie theater. There are free Denver buses available close to the mall that runs up and down the Mall constantly. At night, there are horse and buggy rides. Any sort of Denver transportation service can get anyone to and from the mall very conveniently.
There are many bars and other fun places for people to go at night, but you should probably rely on Denver taxis at the end of the night. ESPNZone is great with all the TV's, especially for Monday night football. The Paramount Cafe and Marlowe's on 16th are quite busy in the evening. At night, there are quite a few kids hanging around and many of them will know the hot places to go.
Larimer Square has some high end boutiques, an art store, doggy store and a Starbucks. In fact, Starbucks is everywhere in Denver. It won't even require a Denver taxi to find one. There is also a Comedy Club in the downtown Denver metro area (just passed 18th Street and Appalosa). $10 a person and some top name comedians appear there as well as local open mike nights. The view of the mountains from this area is awesome. Get a coffee at Starbucks; sit outside and enjoy the view.
The Zoo and Museum of Science is a quick Denver taxi drive away. The Zoo is probably about 5 - 10 miles from downtown off of Colorado Blvd which can be reached by taking any of Denver transportation services. The Denver Mint is also located in that area.
